In the beginning of a lesson, Wodolko (2013) advises that teachers need to develop a "hook" or an innovative way to capture their students attention so that they want to participate in the lesson. One way of doing this is to open with a video.
For Assignment 2, I created a short animation based on the concept of young children crossing the road safely. This animation can be used as a pedagogical teaching strategy in the begging of a PDHPE lesson because it:
- Engages the students in a real world issue
- Encourages the students to reflect on their current practices
- Provide the students with the opportunity to interact with their peers and construct their knowledge in a social context
